Striped Bass, Bluefish, &
Bonito
Enjoy a great saltwater sportfishing
charter trip for stripers and blues on the
38' Maverick.
From spring through fall, stripers,
bluefish and bonito invade the cool waters of Cape Cod, resulting in some of the best and most consistent fishing on the east coast. Giant schools of blitzing fish and screaming birds are the norm, and fast action on light tackle makes a trip on
our Topaz convertible unforgettable.
We offer full and half day trips leaving from Harwichport on Cape Cod. Because of
Allen Harbor's location, you will be fishing the prime waters of Monomoy within minutes.
We have a five fish possession limit on bluefish, and
by State law a 2 fish, 28" minimum, limit per angler for striped bass. If you would like to keep fish, the Maverick crew will clean and ice your catch before you leave the boat.
Tackle, bait, and bottled water are supplied. No license is required. Charters are limited to 6 anglers. Please click Rates and Policies for more information. Click Contact to inquire about available dates or if you have any questions.
Fishing Tips & Techniques
Striped Bass, Bluefish, and School Tuna
Spin Fishing - For most of the sportfishing season Stripers, Blues, and
Bonito can be found chasing pods of bait on top in the rips and shoals. They are easily targeted and cast to with lures or bait from our bow casting pulpit or spacious cockpit.
Conventional - At certain times based on water temperature, time of tide, or location of bait in the water column, we will fish with braided or wire line to reach the depth at which the
striped bass and bluefish are feeding. You can’t catch fish if they don't see it! Based on your preference and experience we will troll jigged lures, custom Offshore Pursuits umbrella rigs or drift with live bait.
Fly Fishing - If the stripers,
bluefish or tuna are on top we position you ahead of the feeding school and sight cast with floating or slow sinking line from our bow casting platform with stripping basket. We are stocked with the most popular Cape fly patterns for the prevalent bait and gamefish. If the fish are deep we drift with the tide and use fast sinking lines to reach the fish showing on our recorder. When the Stripers are in the first wave of the rip we will position the boat to cast to the holding fish. If the fish are moving up and down the rip we will follow the working birds and cast to breaking fish.
